Working with Structure Editor
Structure Editor - Teamcenter displays objects and their referenced documents in a navigable user interface. You can easily select which documents get copied or revised and then saved as new documents stored in Teamcenter items. This functionality is also known as cloning.
Managing assemblies in Structure Editor
There are different ways to revise and copy QY CAD assembly structures. You can use a manual process for cloning an assembly or you can use other mechanisms to do such things as rename or move assembly structures. Because information is being shared and used between assemblies, maintaining the relationship information between these assemblies can be complex.
Structure Editor has commands such as Save As All, Save As Selected, Revise All, Revise Selected, Where Used, and Cache Assistant that help you manage assembly structures.
Typical workflow for QY CAD assemblies in Structure Editor
Structure Editor provides a workflow that copies your assemblies.
A typical workflow for copying an entire QY CAD assembly is:
-
Create an assembly in QY CAD and save the assembly to Teamcenter.
-
Open the assembly in Structure Editor using an appropriate Revision Rule and Variant Rule.
-
In the left pane of the Structure Editor window, select the files from the structure you want to copy.
-
Use the Save As All command to save them to a new filename.
Note:The Item ID, Revision and Item Name fields of the new document are blank since they will get new item numbers.
-
(Optional) Select Run Teamcenter Validations.
-
Use the Perform Actions command to complete the transaction or save it for processing at a later time.
